Design, Assembly & Test ServicesDesign layout is the first of the ancillary services offered by R&D Circuits.  In addition to R&D Circuits' premier prototype PCB manufacturing and electronic assembly, Schematic Capture, Design Layout, or Design and Documentation of your printed circuit board is the first step towards utilizing R&D Circuits' full turnkey services--  and the guarantee that comes with it!

Design Ownership:

Your ownership of the entire design layout and original CAD files for your electrical design isn't usually a first priority. Clients often don't realize they actually maintain ownership of their own electrical CAD files until they try to change circuit board vendors.

But with R&D Circuits, you own your design and there is no additional charge for the CAD data later.  Upon completion of the design and documentation, you receive your completed Gerber, or ODB++ and drill files, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, CAD and centroid data.  Files for manufacturing the circuit board are sent electronically. Then you can decide to have your design manufactured by R&D Circuits or take your layout and have it manufactured at any circuit board facility you choose.  In addition, you can make future design changes yourself, or take the CAD files and have your electrical design changes or re-routing done by anyone who utilizes the software package you specified. Unlike many others, R&D Circuits prefers to earn and keep your business based upon our performance.

Design Guarantee:

Using our design layout service will guarantee your board design for layout errors, circuit boards and assembly as well. When you have your circuit board designed, fabricated and assembled by R&D Circuits you eliminate all risk from the design layout. We all know how drastically one small layout error on the part of your internal or contracted designer can affect your project and costs: you end up paying large expedition fees for circuit board re-make. Or, equally frustrating, you incur schedule delays due to finger-pointing between your fabricator and assembly houses while you scramble to try to find the error. Not only do your high-priced parts get destroyed due to re-work and repair, but you incur further delays if those parts have long lead times.

When you use our design service, we are the ones responsible for providing you with an error-free schematic, an error-free layout, error-free replacement boards, and assembly labor if our designer makes an error.  No finger pointing, no argument: just courteous service and quick replacement board service for no additional charge.

Assembly Offerings:

Third among the four services offered by R&D Circuits, our assembly department helps complete our turn-key product offering. Specializing in small quantity and quick delivery with some of the most advanced equipment in the market place, R&D Assembly is able to complete manual and automated assembly services of a few pieces in as quickly as one day. We're also able to make larger quantities ranging up to a few hundred pieces on a monthly schedule based on your needs.

In addition to accepting your kitted parts, we offer an on-site secure component stocking service for core customers and part procurement and/or consignment for many more. Some of the benefits of utilizing our assembly service as the third step in our turn-key service are:

Board Guarantee:

Our assembly work guarantees your board quality and the board itself throughout the assembly process. If a processing problem occurs during the assembly process, we are responsible for board replacement as well as re-assembly. When you have your board manufactured and assembled by R&D Circuits, you eliminate all risk of quality issues. One error can cause you to end up paying large expedition fees to your fabricator to have boards re-made quickly, you incur schedule delay's due to finger pointing between your fabrication and assembly houses while you scramble to try to find out where the error is and who caused it, and your high priced components get destroyed due to re-work and repair.

When you use our assembly service in conjunction with our board fabrication service, the onus for providing you with an error-free board and error-free assembly remains on us. Factor in our design service as well, and you have complete coverage. If our designer makes a layout error we remanufacture the boards as quickly as possible at no additional cost to you. Take this to the next step by having us build the boards, add our assembly service, and we'll be responsible for re-manufacturing and re-assembling the boards as well. With the tight margins in today's marketplace we know there is no room in the budget or the schedule for costly re-manufactures. No ands, ifs, or buts... just courteous service and quick replacement of boards.

Known Good Loadboard® Test:

R&D Circuits offers a verification test system for ATE-Device-to-Tester Interface Assemblies not found anywhere else. We offer >95% test coverage for all printed circuit boards, components, and socket faults due to manufacturing defect, assembly error, and/or fatigue. We provide test services for digital, analog, mixed signal and RF transmission pathways. We present excellent correlation results; with measurement consistency from test assembly to test assembly. In addition, our data is accurate; sufficient for correcting high performance transmission pathways.

Device-to-tester interface assemblies dwarf the size of other printed circuit board assemblies, not to mention rivaling their component complexity. The required large sizes, the need for good signal integrity, and the growing demand for fine pitch devices push printed circuit board technology to its limits. Further "system on a chip" devices may require component counts in the 1000s, especially for multiple test sites.

Even with a 99.9% component assembly yield, an assembly with 500 components only has a 60% chance of working correctly!

Another issue looms on the horizon: consistency between device-to-tester assemblies. As device pitches reduce and speeds increase, printed circuit boards can now have significant board to board differences. Losses due to copper smoothness, changes in coupled, differential impedance, and even dramatic changes in isolation/ crosstalk all happen as PC boards continuously push the limits of manufacturing capabilities. All of these issues affect correlation from assembly to assembly.
